Big picture
DAT Freight and Analytics reported on October 13 that the national average diesel price topped $6 a gallon in September for the first time, and the monthly average refrigerated spot rate set a record. Higher shipping costs make warehouse locations close to customers and major highways more valuable, which is a strength for Lower Bucks near I-95 and the Turnpike. (Source: DAT, October 13, 2026)
Transport Topics reported on October 16 that national diesel prices were $6.18 a gallon, up 70.7% from a year earlier, and that fuel had grown to about 22% of shippers' transportation spending. Businesses that ship goods may want to review fuel surcharges in their freight contracts. (Source: Transport Topics, October 16, 2026)
On October 28, the Federal Reserve held its benchmark rate at 3.75% to 4.00%. Two members voted for another increase. (Source: Federal Reserve, October 28, 2026)
Freddie Mac's average 30-year fixed mortgage rate reached 7.40% in mid-October, then eased to 7.24% by October 29. Borrowing costs remain a key factor for anyone planning to buy or refinance property. (Source: Freddie Mac)
Trend to watch
Strong sale prices for established warehouses near I-95 and the Turnpike show that investors still value Lower Bucks locations.
